    About the AI Guide

    MyClinicianGuide includes an AI assistant ("Ask the Guide") and four AI coaches. This page explains exactly what they are designed to do, what they refuse to do, and how your data is handled.

    What the AI Guide is for

    • Quick orientation to outpatient geriatrics, adult primary care, and outpatient urgent care for licensed NPs, PAs, MDs, and DOs.
    • Pointing you to the right page in this guide (cheat sheet, syndrome, urgent-care complaint, business/career topic).
    • Explaining frameworks and workflows that already appear in the guide (e.g., disposition reasoning, red-flag screens, billing concepts).
    • Practical phrasing for difficult conversations and documentation prompts you can adapt.

    What it will not do

    • It will not provide pediatric dosing or pediatric-specific care guidance.
    • It will not direct inpatient or ICU management (vasoactive drips, ventilator settings, complex post-op care).
    • It will not prescribe, write orders, refill controlled substances, or contact pharmacies on your behalf.
    • It will not diagnose a specific patient. Guidance is general and educational.
    • It will not replace local protocols, specialty consultation, malpractice counsel, or your state board.
    • It avoids state-specific legal claims that change frequently (scope of practice nuances, controlled-substance rules); it will point you to your board instead.

    Safety design

    • The AI is grounded in the same content you can read on this site and is instructed to defer to clinical judgment.
    • When asked about a topic outside its scope, it will say so and suggest a more appropriate resource (your supervising physician, poison control, ED, board of nursing/medicine, attorney, etc.).
    • For any acute deterioration, the AI will direct you to escalate (911 / ED) rather than attempt to manage.
    • The AI may make mistakes. Always verify dosing, contraindications, and patient-specific factors against a primary source (Lexicomp, UpToDate, manufacturer label) before acting.

    How your data is handled

    • Do not enter PHI. The AI is for clinician education, not patient documentation. Avoid names, dates of birth, medical record numbers, or any other identifier.
    • Conversations are processed through a third-party large language model provider via our backend. They are not stored long-term in an identifiable way and are not used to train models that could expose your inputs to others.
    • Free users have a small daily limit on Ask-the-Guide questions. Subscribers have higher limits.

    Model class

    The AI Guide and coaches use general-purpose large language models (currently in the Google Gemini and OpenAI GPT family) accessed through a managed AI gateway. Specific model selection may change over time as we tune for accuracy, latency, and cost. The product is not a regulated medical device.
